I must apologize for the lack of activity here on the Tools from Japan blog. Posts were planned, but didn’t pan out. A holiday greeting was planned, but don’t get done. Many things were planned, but never happened.

The reason?

Time, or actually a severe lack of it.

Over the Christmas/New Year period, I was expecting that things would . . . → Read More: Apologies,

Too much going on to get into too many details here, but it’s a video. Watch it if you need to, don’t if you don’t.

It’s just taken 3 days, 4 video editors, 3 video decoders, half a dozen codec tweaks, a replaced computer cpu, re-editing 8 times, numerous shutdown/start up cycles and other assorted crap . . . → Read More: Atoma diamond sheet replacement.

I’m not dead…

Hi All,

Just poking my head up here to state that I’m still alive, but have so much stuff on the go that it’s ridiculous. I can’t manage to get enough time to get everything done that I want to, even putting in days that start at 8AM and finish at 2AM.

Just silly, but such is . . . → Read More: I’m not dead…

I just had several crisises.

Is it ‘crisises’ or ‘cricii’? Whatever, I got them in bulk.

Oh, hi Faithful reader,

#1, Wrong saw delivered. I’m not upset here, since I gave a certain lovely fellow lots of grief with saws this week, so sending the wrong one was probably pay back for me being a pain in the rear.

#2, I’ve run Sigma Power . . . → Read More: I just had several crisises.

So, what’s in the 1K-6K-13K stone set?

Hi again Faithful Reader,

Or maybe I should switch that to “Faithful Watcher”?

Instead of bashing in lots and lots of words, I hastily put together a couple of short videos explaining what is in the Sigma Power ceramic #1000, #6000, #13000 and Atoma #400 sharpening stone set.

(And if a certain Mr. Jon Broida sees this, it’s your . . . → Read More: So, what’s in the 1K-6K-13K stone set?

Carrot, Part II…

Hello again Faithful Reader…

The response the original carrot (in the form of a full set) has been good, and those of you who’ve jumped on it as I requested should be receiving your “order is on it’s way!” emails over the next few days.

But, even from the beginning, I knew that the original 1000-6000-13000 is a . . . → Read More: Carrot, Part II…

Carrot anyone?

Hello again Faithful Reader,

I mentioned a carrot in my last posting here, and if you pop into the store and take a look, you’ll see it sitting there, bold as brass, on the front page under ‘new items’.

The pointy orange root vegetable looks interestingly like an Atoma #400 diamond plate…

Did I say the carrot would be . . . → Read More: Carrot anyone?

To whom it may concern, Happy father’s day!

Hello again faithful reader,

Here in Japan, among other places around the world, it’s father’s day so to all of you out there so blessed to be a dad, I hope your day was a good one.

To those of you out there who didn’t have father’s day today (including my dad), please disregard the above…

I spent the . . . → Read More: To whom it may concern, Happy father’s day!

What’s right with this picture?

Hi again,

Well, there have been several interesting guesses as to what was ‘wrong’ with the chisel posted yesterday, and now as promised the answer to the question.

However, let’s go back to the original picture…

Ok, let’s pull it apart a little, shall we?

Yes, there is a slight blemish on the blade, and as this was a specially . . . → Read More: What’s right with this picture?

What’s wrong with this picture?

Hi again faithful reader,

Umm, as the title says, what’s wrong with this picture?

(Apologies to Tom, I couldn’t not let this one get an airing.)
