Modified back, uradashi-fuyoh

The blades in these kanna have a special back hollow design, making them easy to sharpen with zero maintenance required.

The hollowing process, preformed by a CNC surface grinder, leaves a small sliver of 'back' on the blade rather than the small back-and-legs of the more traditional kanna blade. This small area is requires very little time to hone, requires no tapping out and makes this potentially difficult to sharpen blade readily sharpened by most modern waterstones to great sharpness.

The powder metal steel in the blades allows these kanna to take a great edge, stay sharp for an incredibly long time and they also possess a measure of rust resistance. Fitted to a 'pre-adjusted' shiragashi (Japanese white oak) body with plain type blade opening, and with the blade already sharpened, these planes may well be some of the only planes available today that are truly ready to work "out of the box".

Available in 8 blade widths, and various dai/body options.

Supplied with a simple 'paper' box and full instructions for use available here.
