Ouchi Chisels. Established in 1890, Ouchi (pronounced Oh-oo-chi) chisel manufacturing has established a reputation of offering chisels that are widely recognised as some of the best working chisels available. They are a staple of professionals working with wood across Western Japan, and while not offering the aesthetic enhancements offered by some makers, the understated appearance and attention to detail of Ouchi chisels is eye-candy in and of itself.
Mr. Toshiaki Ouchi is the 4th generation chisel maker at Ouchi, and the current general manager of operations. He brings blend of old world, handed down knowledge with modern ideas and techniques, and an unending quest for improved quality and performance. Available in most Japanese standard patterns, and if a specific profile/size/style is required, special requests can usually be accommodated. (As we only order these chisels as they are required and not all listed chisels are available at all times, there may be an additional delay between ordering and dispatch of up to 3 weeks.
